Maria van Hekken is a coach with Greenleaf and is part of the team serving USAID’s Jordan mission. Clients’ management and staff members rely on her coaching expertise to support their development of leadership and supervisor skills as well as their capacity to mitigate operational stress, communicate more effectively, resolve conflicts, and more.
In addition to coaching, Maria is a faculty member of Georgetown University’s leadership coaching program.
She has in-depth, hands-on experience in leadership, management, administration, project management, and team performance in organizations. Maria was director of U.S. programs at the Rodale Research Center in Pennsylvania, managing Ph.D. scientists. She also served as co-director of the Penn State University-Rodale Institute Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources in Urbanizing Environments and was project manager of the
W.K. Kellogg Foundation Regional Infrastructure for Sustaining Agriculture project.
Maria has lived in or worked with clients in Brazil, China, Hong Kong, India, Jordan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental biology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in Millersville, Pa.
Maria is certified as a professional coach from the International Coach Federation and as a leadership coach from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She is also certified in numerous assessment tools, including Leadership Circle Profile 360, Leadership Practices Inventory LPI 360, Maturity Assessment Profile, and Leadership Agility 360.
